subdivisions have you driven through with these kinds of names? It all adds up to creeping suburbanization, and is part of the same battle to keep Rappahannock rural, to keep farms alive and well.
Another consideration in these days of tight budgets: why should the state, county or property owners have to go to the unnecessary ex. pense of putting up these signs?
It may seem a small point, but I think worthy of careful thought by our board of supervisors.

Poe's Road
To the Editor:
Let’s keep Poe’s Road as it is and has been since Aug. 28, 1740. We 'were still under British rule when William Poe was appointed overseer of roads from Thoughfare Run to Stony Run at the upper end of Brooks and Beverley tracts.
It was ordered that all people above Battle Run to the great mountains be under William Poe, from his spring to the Stony Run at the foot of the great mountains, and it was ordered that they attend the obey the said overseer’s direction in clearing and keeping said roads in repair. Moreover, the said overseer would cause posts of direction to be set up where necessary.

There is Poe’s Mountain and Poe’s cemetery beside the said road. I am eight years old; have lived here all my life and have never heard of Rawlings Road or heard said road called anything but Poe’s Road.
Please, let us keep the priceless values of our heritage.
