Ridgetop development, roads and the future of the agricultural advisory committee generated much passion at the Planning Commission meeting last Wednesday, a meeting where most of the time was taken up w ith going over the second draft of the first four chapters of the new Comprehensive Plan.
The meeting began with the reelection of Mike Massie, who represents the Board of Supervisors on the Planning Commission, as chairman and the reelection of Sharon Pierce, who represents Stonewall-Hawthorn District, as vice-chairman.
Follow ing the review of the Comprehensive Plan and approval of the continuation of the special exception for Belle Meade Day Camp, the 'planners took up ridge top development. *
Hampton District representative Susan Babcock had prov ided the planners with copies of restrictions on ridge top development under ’ consideration in Albemarle County.
"I'd like to see us spend time on what we can do to protect our mountains, being creative, considering what's legal and what tools there are," she said. She had also provided copies of a studv on tools for planning available in Virginia. That study was prepared by the Piedmont
