“You’re saying they should disband?” Dr. Krebser asked.
“It would keep things more at arms' length when we get a recommendation," Mr. Massie replied.
Ms. Pierce said, “1 agree with the concept. There are too many steps. We base appointed subcommittees to deal with issues. I'm uncomfortable with appointed standing committees with a fuzzy mandate."
Dr. Krebser asked if the committee could deal with applications for agricultural and foresta! districts. Mr. Massie noted that the committee that considers these applications is appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
Mr. Junk said, “I wouldn't be for appointing any kind of committee. That's up to the supervisors." He added the survey of farmers was a "great study.”
Dave Tannon, who represents Jackson District, said the committee could stay in business separate from the Planning Commission and advise the planners.
Ms. Pierce made the motion to thank the committee for its work and disband it. She said her motion was not to indicate “any problem with their work.”
The motion was approved unanimously.
