Mrs. Jamieson noted that Mrs. Sims had served as the library’s “first certified librarian” as well as a member of the board. “Grace was great with all kinds of emergencies, she just stepped in and did what was needed,” Mrs. Jamieson said.
Dr. Young, as chairman, “had the ability to be an effective liaison with our county government and our Virginia State Library systetn...to increase our local and state funding and to obtain grants so sorely needed for the expansion of the library’s services and building program,” she said.
