Ruth Hudson

Ruth Eleanor Hudson, 78 of Luray died Sunday, Feb. 26 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Memorial services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Main Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Glen McLaughlin, James E. Chevalier Jr. and Dr. Mark Jordan.

Mrs. Hudson was born May 12, 1916, in Sperryville, the daughter of the late James Leonard and Susie Eleanor Menefee Mathews.

She received a double degree in home economics and nutrition form Madison College in Harrisonburg in 1938.

She was a teacher in the Page, Fauquier and Warren county school systems. She was past president of the Luray Garden Club where she had been a member since 1950, and was a life member of Page Memorial Auxiliary' where she served as president. She„ was treasurer of Page County Chapter of the American Red Cross and a member of the Tuesday Night Super Club.

She was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church Sunday School and Women's Missionary Union.

She was the wife of the late John Robert Hudson Sr.

Surviving are a daughter, Suellen Foxhall of Colorado Springs, Colo.; h brother, Edward Menefee Mathews of Front Royal; a half-sister, Ann Mathews Pope of Courtland and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the RMH Regional Cancer Center, 100 E. 'Grace St., Harrisonburg, Va. 22801-1807.
