attorneys, Becky Moore and James Clark. Mr. Clark told the jury that the girl was a troubled young child. Speaking of his , client, he said, “This is one of the most horrific things a person could be accused of: taking advantage of a child.”
He explained that a romantic relationship had developed between Mr. Stewart and the girl’s mother and that in 1989 they had gone their separate ways. When the girl was only 2 1/2 years old she had accused her own father of sexual abuse, said Mr. Clark. He claimed that the girl’s mother sees a child abuser in anyone who looks sideways at her daughter.
