Some observations and thoughts . on the discussion of alcohol use in the Washington Town Hall. -
Regard for property, public and private, seems to be diminished by those partaking of alcohol. Therefore, it might be necessary to charge higher rent than for non-alcoholic events. It would appear that drinking alcohol produces some undesirable behavior requiring additional maintenance and repair to the premises. An excuse for serving or allowing the serving of - alcohol is that more money will flow into the Town treasury even if this meSns lowering previous standards.
All of this is beside the point.'The - important point is, what example being set for teenagers? This. 5s M direct contradiction of the me&agtf; being preached to them. It is a cojjtraS diction of supervised, school-oriented* non-alcoholic events -for Rappahannock County young people.
Are we going to need Designated • Building Personnel as well asDesignated Drivers for adults usings the Town Hall?
This is the time for the Town to say, “NO.”
