According to Ms. Reid, only 20 percent of shelter dogs nationally find homes. She is obviously proud of RAWL with their success rate at near 100 percent. “We do a pretty good job,” she said.

RAWL can really use help from volunteers when they go to Petsmart, and it is a very rewarding experience to see so many homeless dogs find a loving family. Also needed at the shelter are donations of money, towels, blankets, food (dry and canned), bleach (they use a gallon a day), dish detergent, PineSol and paper towels. For more information, call Ms. Walters at the shelter at 937-3283. The shelter is open every day except Wednesday and Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
