The poster should be submitted on standard-sized paper (8 « x 11, 17 x 22, etc.), with the artist’s name, age, address and phone number printed clearly on the reverse side. Poster submissions will be forwarded to a national poster contest sponsored by HearthSong Inc., unless the artist (or parent) requests that the submission be returned. HearthSong’s grand prize is $1,000.
Posters will be evaluated on the basis of originality, graphic design, color, composition and clarity. The theme should be TV’s effects on community life, family life, education, health, or the environment.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the three top entries from grades 8-12. At the elementary level, first, second and third-place trophies will be awarded.
Entries should be left at the front office at RCHS for Sharon Wyrrick’s attention. RCES students may turn in their entries to their school office. Deadline for submission is May 3.
Another activity planned for National TV-Tumoff Week is a county-wide cleanup of road shoulders. Hunt Harris, who is coordinating the cleanup, points out that picking up trash can be a fun, invigorating way of spending time together as a family. ,
A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the family, neighborhood group, Scout troop or to any other individual or organization who fills the most bags with roadside trash.
