As a part of that effort Mr. Heddleston had an in-class debate last week. The students picked the topic: “Resolved: That HIV-positive athletes should be prohibited from competing in contact sports — both amateur and professional.”
Cari Kerr and Julie Bankston volunteered to argue in the affirmative and Jim Clark and Willie Eastham volunteered to argue for tfie negative side.
Each person could speak for 10 minutes. The debate covered part of two class periods with one speaker for the affirmative side and one speaker for the negative side each day.
