The best thing about Allen is he would be acceptable to all factions of the party because he would pass the litmus test both on economic issues and social issues.

He is young, vigorous and most important highly telegenic. He would offer a striking contrast to Gore who is extrepiely bright, but anything but dynamic.

Allen’s rhetoric would excite the party faithful and the media would have a field day writing about the colorful Governor who chews tobacco, wears cowboy boots with pin-stripe suits and delights in bashing Democrats. He is also a person to person campaigner who rivals Bill Clinton in his ability to schmooze with people on the campaign trail.
