“John Warner needs a strong showing in Fairfax County and if he doesn’t get it, it’s going to be a long night for him on June 11,” Mr. Thompson said.
He said he is not anti-Warner. “This is a pro-Jim Miller effort on my part,” he said.
And while State Republican Party Chairman Patrick McSweeney said he has to stay neutral in the primary and is not endorsing candidates, he said Sen. Warner has worked to “seriously undermine” the Republican party.
“Miller is a party loyalist who has worked hard to get Republicans elected,” Mr. McSweeney said.
