An attempt to smuggle snuff into the jail on May 21 was halted when tennis shoes being brought in for an inmate were found to have two cans’ worth of snuff sewn into the tongues of the shoes.
Major Rick MacWelch said that during inspection of the shoes jailors found that the stuffing had been removed from the shoes’ tongues and replaced with the snuff. Charges are pending.
