Hackney, who has faithfully gathered scores for the Rappahannock News over the weeks, even when there was no room to print them, reported that Dr. Snyder’s Pirates defeated Rankins’s Senators 8-3. Brandon Holloway was the winning pitcher with 14 strikeouts. He also had four hits, two singles, one double, and one home run.
In a make-up game last Monday the Minor League Rider’s Dodgers defeated Howard and Lisa Swaim’s Braves 16-5. Zachary Tamburello was the winning pitcher with 11 strikeouts. Leading hitters for the Dodgers were Daniel Pierson, Alex Hammer, Jacob Dodson and Kevin Burton with two hits each. Joseph Davis had a three-run homer.
On May 11 several games were played although two were rained out as the RAA baseball program completed its third week In the T-ball division the Rappahannock Lions Club Lions defeated Hackley’s Store’s Lil’ Orioles 23-8
Four players on the winning team, Rebecca Tupper, Ben Hackney, James Henze and Simon Berry, had three hits.
In the Minor League the R.L. Rider & Co.’s Dodgers won both parts of a double header over Howard and Lisa Swaim’s Braves 6-5 and 111.
In the first game ZaChefy Tamburello was the winning pitcher for the Dodgers. He helped his cause when he hit an in-the-park home run with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game. Nick Buser walked. Kevin Burton hit a double to score Nick with the winning run for the Dodgers. Jacob Dodson came in in relief and held the Braves scoreless for the final two innings.
