that choose solid companies and stick with them throughout the 10 week period. “I would rather have them learn that with someone else’s money,” he added. “I am hoping students will learn how the stock market works. Then when they grow up they can invest themselves.”
Math teacher Janet Long feels the program benefits her students also. “Students should learn from this project the importance of saving and investing,” she said. She wants her students to realize there are risks when investing in the stock market.
Helen W. Smith, 4-H Extension Agent, said, “I’m really proud of the 1996 teams.” The Stock Market Game is part of 4-H curriculum enrichment. Its purpose is to teach youth about economics and business.
