It was a four-ring circus as Rappahannock Athletic Association baseball games were played at Stuart Field Saturday.
In the far field T-ball teams competed. The two mid-fields featured Major and Minor League play, and the Babe Ruth players held court in the front field.
In the Minor League R.L. Rider and Co.’s Dodgers defeated David and Donna Sheffield’s Indians in both games of a double header.
In the first game Zachary Tamburello was the winning pitcher with six strike outs as the Dodgers gained an 18-6 victory. Alex Hammer led the hitting with a double and a home run, scoring five batters. Joseph Davis had a triple, and Kenneth Dunn had a double.
In the second game, using a pitching machine the Dodgers prevailed 23-12. For the Indians Ben Hahn, Dustin White and Ethan Berry had three hits each. Brian Taylor and Malcolm Sonnett had two hits. For the Dodgers Jacob Dodson had four hits, Alex Hammer, Jospeh Davis, Kevin Burton and Kyle Wesselhoff had three hits each.
In the Major League Rankin’s Sporting Goods’ Senators defeated the Rappahannock National Bank’s Red Sox 7-4. Jason Paul was the winning pitcher. Jesse Grigsyby led the hitting for the Senators with two singles and two doubles.
In other Major League action David M. Snyder’s Pirates defeated the Early’s Carpet Orioles 13-0. Brandon Holloway was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts. In his losing effort for the Orioles Larry Clatterbuck did almost as well with eight strikeouts. The leading hitters for the Pirates were Brandon Holloway with two home runs and a double, David .Letsen with one home run and two singles and Zach Ashby with two doubles.
