To the Editor:
Where do you get off printing that I’m bullying people?
It is ridiculous for you to say that I want to destroy the public school system. No one could possibly believe that. I represent many parents of children in Rappahannock schools. I certainly couldn’t represent their interests and, at the same time, want to destroy the school system used by my family, neighbors and constituents.
As an elected official, I have responsibilities to the public. I’ve asked some tough questions, but I’m no bully.
It seems to me that the real bullies are you and the school administration — for according to Ron Makela’s letter of April 24th, Dr. Gangel presented a resolution “asking” Gov. Allen to apply for Goals 2000 funding; when in fact, it was part of the Democratic controlled general Assembly plan to force (bully) Gov. Allen into accepting the money. Gov. Allen vetoed this language and the Democrats threatened to sue him; we are yet to see the end of all this. Now your May 22nd editorial is nothing less than an attempt to silence me in order to protect your friends.
