At the Loyalty Day’s recent program by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Auxiliary held at die V.F.W. Home on Sperryville Pike several of our local people received recognition. Michael Bailey received at $50 check and a certificate of Appreciation as he was selected Fireman of the year. Andy Winn received a certificate of Appreciation ind a $50 check for being selected Rescue Squad Member of the Year. Both men are members of the Salem Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
Another from our area, David Carter received a certificate of Appreciation also for his performance Jn the Sheriff’s Department of Culpeper County as Chief Investigator.
Mrs. N.B. Peyton visited her uncle in Fredericksburg on Saturday.
The Friends of Culpeper Town and Library held their spring book sale on Saturday.
A Memorial Day program was held at the Culpeper National Cemetery on Monday and quite a few folk from our area attended. " Mr. Edward Baker returned home Monday after surgery in University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville. He seems to be recuperating satisfactorily and our prayers continue for him and his family.
