it would help decrease the number of animals now having to be sheltered. She thinks the state should be able to pay for three to four of the converted vans and that regions could enlist the aid of corporate sponsors to help fund them too.
The PaLC gives the following reasons for spaying or neutering a pet:
•Spayed and neutered dogs and cats live longer lives.
•Spaying and neutering dogs and cats greatly reduces the incidence of cancer and other hormone-related medical disorders.
•Neutered animals are less likely to roam, bite or fight.
•Animals have no psychological need to reproduce.
•Spayed and neutered pets are better behaved, more affectionate companions.
•Neutered cats are less likely to spray and mark territory.
•Spaying a female dog or cat eliminates its heat cycle. Females in heat often cry incessantly, show nervous behavior and attract unwanted male animals.
•Unaltered animals often exhibit more behavior and temperament problems such as biting, roaming and fighting.
•Irresponsible breeding overbur- , dens shelters with surplus animals.
•Communities spend millions of ” dollars to control, destroy and dispose - of these unwanted animals.
