Watching them, you could see the effort they made to marshal all their abilities and focus them on a brief 10 minutes in time. And, of course, everything depended on those 10 minutes.
The event was held at Madison County High School on March 5. Eight students from Rappahannock County High School who qualified after the Bull Run District competition, which Rappahannock won, were entered in the regional competition, it was the best showing ever for a Rappahannock team to regionals — the excitement was palpable.
The students arrived at MCHS at 3:30 p.m. The competition would last until 9:30 that night.
