This spring’s sports line-up at Rappahannock County High School has added junior varsity teams for both baseball and softball.
That means there will be seven teams playing this season: two for boys’ baseball, two for girls’ softball, two for soccer, and one track team. “Everybody can be doing something in the spring if they want to,” said RCHS Athletic Director Mike Tupper.
Tryouts are finished and rosters were being put together early this week.
Several of last year’s coaches are returning. Donn Hackney will again coach varsity baseball, with Gary Settle as assistant coach. Jason Gochenour will coach the junior varsity baseball team.
Carl Payne returns as the girls’ varsity softball coach, and Rhonda Jenkins will be the assistant coach. The junior varsity softball team will be coached by Linda Dennis.
Dave van de Graaff is again the track coach; he will be assisted by James Roszak.
The new varsity soccer coach is Christy Sander, and Mark Pace will coach junior varsity.
