In Circuit Court on Term Day Monday, three people were indicted by the Grand Jury.
Pauline Esther Scroggins, 50, of Amissville was indicted for one count of forgery. She was indicted in January for four other counts of forgery and one count of fraud, all felonies. The alleged forgeries were for checks drawn on the account of John Tapp.
Charles Mark Nara, II, 31, and Scott Herrington, 20, both of the Adult Detention Center in Warrenton, were each indicted for two felonies: willfully damaging the jail, and attempting to escape from the jail. According to Major Rick MacWelch of the Sheriff’s Office, the two men’s attempt to escape from the jail on Feb. 26 was foiled. He said they had tried to pick a lock to get outside the security door and damaged the lock. They used a piece of wire that they had removed from the security cage over one of the lights to try to trigger the locking mechanism, said Major MacWelch.
Both men were being held in the Rappahannock County Jail because the Fauquier Adult Detention Center in Warrenton was full, but they were both returned to Fauquier the day following the attempted escape.
