She passes this advice on to her students. Lois teaches art lessons to adults and children in two sessions per year — Spring and Fall — unless she’s preparing for a show in which case she doesn’t teach one session.
The sessions last eight weeks and she only takes three students at a time. She teaches general art to kids and drawing and watercolor to adults. She takes three students at a time to make it worth her while and keep cost down for students but scheduling is always a problem.
She has never advertised for her classes. Her class size 'is limited and her instruction is therefore very personalized and intensive. She has always had to chose class participants from a list of applicants based on when she can teach and when the students can attend together.
“It’s more fun for the kids who take my classes to come when there are only three of them because they get individual attention and they can work on their own project. Very seldom do all three work on the same thing at the same time,” she said. “It’s often the same with adults. They come with different backgrounds and goals and I can respond to that with only three of them
