The Panthers struck first, scoring one in the first and one in the second innings. The Rams responded by scoring two in the 3rd, one in the 4th and two in the 5th. The Panthers came back to score two in the 6th, but fell short in the 7th, leaving a runner on 2nd base to end the game. A disappointed Hackney commented, ‘This was a hard one to lose. In another Bull Run District contest, the Panthers were defeated at George Mason by a score of 12-8. The Panthers, coming as close as 6-5 after four innings of play, were never able to take the lead, suffering its first loss in the District.
Chris Sealock and Gary Phillips each collected two hits.
The Panthers currently are tied for 1st place in the District, hosting Manassas Park on Tuesday, 4/22 and Brentsville on Friday, 4/25.
