CALL FOR A MASS MEETING RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY REPUBLICANS
I, Walter Longyear, Chairman of the Rappahannock County Republican Committee, do hereby call a mass meeting of the Rappahannock County Republican Party, to be held on Wednesday, May 14,1997, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Courthouse.
The purposes of the mass meeting are:
(1) to elect up to sixty (60) delegates and sixty (60) alternates to the 31 st Legislative District Convention, to be held on May 29 at Warrenton Middle School, Waterloo Street, Warrenton, beginning at 7:30 p.m. for the purpose of nominating a Republican candidate for the House of Delegates from the 31 st Legislative District in the November 4 general election. Candidates for the nomination must pre-file in writing their intentions with the 31st District Chairman, Jeffrey W. Parker, PO Box 925, Warrenton, VA 20188, postmarked no later than May 1,1997 along with a nonrefundable filing fee of Three Hundred Fifty Dollars ($350.00). Rappahannock County has 12 delegate votes at this convention.
(2) to nominate a Republican candidate for county constitutional offices in the November 4 general election; and (3) to transact such other business as may properly come before the meeting.
All legal and qualified voters of Rappahannock County, under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meeting, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
There will be no registration fee for the mass meeting or the district convention. Anyone desiring to become a delegate or alternate to the 31st Legislative District Convention is required to send such notice in writing to Walter Longyear, PO Box 124, 636 Mt. Salem Ave., Washington, VA 22747-0124. Such notice must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 12,1997.
