Nationally known and beloved singer-songwriter Alisa Fineman will be appearing at The Appetite Repair Shop in Sperryville from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 27. Continuing to heed the demands of her own touring and performing schedule, Alisa just accompanied legendary Tom Paxton on his recent California jaunt. She also has just completed her involvement as a member of Martin Simpson’s Band of Angels whose album has recently been released on Red House Records. In addition to her lush harmony vocals, the album features Alisa’s lead vocals on one song that is quickly becoming a favorite on radio play lists across the country.
Described as a rare combination of storyteller, lyricist and talented sjnger, Alisa’s souful and compelling songs have earned her many songwriting awards (Kerrville “New-Folk”) and festival appearances. Here songs appear on two CD compilations, both New York-based, including Fast Folk Magazine and Treestar Revue. She has appeared with other well-known artists sjach as Greg Brown, Tish Hinojosa, ^Jex de Grassi, Utah Phillips, John Gorka, Bill Staines, Cache Valley Drifters and Austin Lounge Lizards.
Her CD’s, Better With Time and Cup of Kindness (recently re-released on compact disc), have received enthusiastic reviews across the country. Says Tom Miller of Santa Cruz’s Backbeat Productions, “Better With Time is one of the most powerful albums I’ve heard... I’ve watched her dazzle audiences again and again.” Currently working on two new CD projects, Alisa’s new songs are as strong and well-crafted as ever.
