Herman Cefus Newman, 38, of Culpeper, was sentenced to six years in the Department of Corrections last Thursday for a probation violation.
The six years was comeback time, time that had been suspended in lieu of Mr. Newman being on probation. However, while on probation he violated the terms and conditions of his supervised probation.
Mr.' Newman was arrested in February and charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. Earlier this month, he was found guilty of two charges of failure to appear.
Mr. Newman was originally convicted in Rappahannock County Circuit Court for three charges of breaking and entering and two charges of grand larceny, all felonies, in March 1992. He was sentenced to six years for each breaking and entering and five years for each grand larceny.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke told the judge, “This defendant has shown that he is not amenable to probation.”
