Distressed
over cider ban
I was distressed to read in
the Rappahanock News Aug. 6 about the proposed ban on unpasteurized apple cider and apple butter. As the article stated, small farmers, vendors of these products, and other businesses and organizations will be badly affected, or even forced out of business.
I urge that all those concerned whether producers or customers for these products, contact their representatives in Congress opposing this legislation.
Writing a letter to my Congressman was in fact what I did immediately after reading this article.
The negative economic impact such a ban would have on agriculture, especially apple-growers, and small businesses is self-evident.
