Lecture planned at Trinity
Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington will present an illustrated lecture with historian/traveler Paul Henze on the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14. The public is invited to attend and nursery will be provided during the lecture.
Mr. Henze, who owns Rock Mills Farm, has been a part-time resident of Rappahannock for the past 30 years. He is a retired foreign service officer who served in the American Embassy in Addis Ababa at the end of Haile Seilasie’s reign. He published a book of his family’s travels in this ancient country, Ethiopian Journeys, in 1977. He has continued to travel frequently there. Since the fall of the communist regime in 1991, he and his wife have spent several weeks each winter exploring ancient churches and monasteries in the northern part of Ethiopia. Mr. Henze will show some of the highlights of this remarkable, littleknown ancient culture that is still flourishing.
