Route 621 disagree, they are also in agreement. They are both worried about safety, about the future integrity of the county as a rural entity and the well-being or Rappahannock’s residents.
Paving and widening will ensure that people can pass on the road, that trees will not be in precarious locations and that large agricultural vehicles can pass. These agricultural vehicles are of great importance as the large beautiful masses of land that allow us to call it scenic and rural are mostly agricultural. We need to assure their longevity.
The other side says that if the road is paved, safety will be sacrificed; it will be used more often and driven on faster. They see into the future when the road could be used as a Sperryville bypass, cutting from U.S. 522 and Route 231, which would sacrifice their quiet, safe neighborhood, threaten business to the farms on that road, which would lose their quaint atmosphere, and possibly even effect the wellbeing of business in Sperryville.
