The DARE parent program money went toward getting parents more involved and Settle feels it was an unqualified success. He has already reapplied and funds have been approved for this year. He said this year’s grant will allow other deputies to attend training as well, get exposure to the program, and provide some assistance to Capt. Jeff Brown.
“The paperwork needed to apply for these grants is enormous,” Settle conceded, “It requires a lot of time and effort — there are a lot of strings attached. But, this grant money goes for things citizens have actually asked for and it allows us to do more. And, we don’t have to ask the county for it.”
