Although he does anticipate some additional growth in the Amissville area because of Culpeper subdivisions sprouting up along the county line, Gilkey doesn't expect any major roads to be affected in the foreseeable future. He also predicted that “U.S. 211 will bottleneck in Sperryville,” because the Park Service is against widening the road and it would be difficult to change it through the mountains. Overall, Gilkey feels that the board is conservative, and he, especially, tries to remain neutral. “We have always tried to be flexible. On the whole, I think we have made decisions that bene fitted most people and the county.”
