Williams said the committee is open to all. Their main focus now has become researching the history of the district.
“The marker, once it is up, will record Sperryville’s beginning history and will stand as an important reminder of the ‘specialness’ of this village,” Williams said. “It will help those coming after us (children) and those new to the area to realize the history of the village.”
The current research project will eventually provide all residents with a full picture of Sperryville’s past and provide a valuable learning tool.
Williams asks that anyone with old pictures or with historical and family information to relate about Sperryville, that they are willing to share, attend the next meeting of the committee on Jan. 9,1998 at 7 p.m. at the rescue squad building in Sperryville.
