This process of events lead to the overwhelming downfall of European Jewry. Jews were rounded up from their towns and villages and sent on long train journeys to a vast series of ghettos, concentration camps, and death camps for the purpose of slave labor and eventually, certain death.
Historical records from the Holocaust state that there were more than 5,000 such camps scattered all over Europe and occupied Russia. They were mainly concentration camps where not onyl Jews, but people of all faiths, were persecuted, starved, and worked to death. Principal Nazi concentration camps, just to name a few, were: Theresienstadt, 'Oranienburg, Dachau, Buckenwald, BergenBelsen, Mauthausen, Sachsenhausen, ColumbiaHaus, and thousands more. The infamous Bergen-Belsen camp claimed the young life of Anne Frank just days before liberation!
