New Year’s comes at the end of the ever busy holiday season. If you are planning a big celebration, focus on quick to fix items. New Year’s is a celebration with built in excitement for both the young and old.
Dinner parties for the festive occasion can be made simple by serving it buffet style. A New Year’s Day brunch would be a nice alternative if guests have been out celebrating the evening before.
Tidbits, nibbles and appetizers are in order for this time of the year. The Virginia Egg Council provided us with an array of ideas for the holiday season with special emphasis on New Year’s celebration.

Mushrooms
24 pieces
24 medium mushrooms
1 to 1/2 cups bottled low-fat Italian dressing
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup diced green pepper
1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
4 hard-cook egg, finely chopped
Cut stems from mushrooms, finely chop and set aside. Brush each mushroom cap with dressing and place in 9 by 13-inch glass baking dish. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
