Cooking class to begin

A former student of Mercella Hazan is teaching an Italian cooking class beginning Feb. 3 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Call 987-9142 for more information.

Dance scheduled

The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a dance on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the fire hall. Music will be provided by Thunder Road. Proper dress code is required.

Healing Arts activities

The following activities will be held at Rappahannock Healing Arts Center located in Sperryville.

A yoga class will be held Jan. 8 at 9:30 a.m. On Jan. 12 yoga will be held at 5 p.m.

A herb clinic will be held Jan. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Shiatsu Winter special is also' underway at Rappahannock Healing Arts. A free clinic will be held Jan. 15 for 30 minute treatments from 6 to 10 p.m., however, you must call first, Jeff Hazel 987-9054 or 987-7241. The special will include four treatments for only $100.

Bereavement supporters to meet

Hospice of the Rapidan hosts a bereavement support group from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at the Amissville United Methodist Church on US 211. Anyone who is coping with grief due to the death of a loved one under any circumstances is welcome to attend. This is a community service of Hospice of the Rapidan, and there is no charge to attend. Call 825-4840 to confirm that the group will meet as scheduled.

Ragged Mountain activities

Ragged Mountain Resource Center located at Oldway Art Center in Sperryville announces the following upcoming events:

Saturday, Jan. 10, Second Saturday Series hike, “Robertson Mountain”, meet at Ragged Mountain Office between 9 and 9:30, return by mid-afternoon. Shenandoah National Park pass or $5 fee required. Also on Jan. 10, moonlight hike of Old Rag, meet at upper lot trail head in Nethers by 4 p.m., park pass or $5 fee required.

Saturday, Jan. 17, Rappahannock Water Monitoring Network meeting, Rappahannock County Extension Office, 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Services board to meet

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Administrative Office on Bradford Road in Culpeper.

Family dance party set

There will be a family dance party at Marshall Community Center on Jan. 9 and Jan. 30 from 8 to 11 p.m. The cost is $5 per person. Soft soled shoes, no heels please.

Also available are line dancing, swing, jitterbug and dance lessons which are offered every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $2 per person. Children are welcome. For more information call 675-3444.
