Mr. and Mrs. Cary G. Thornhill of Boston were honored with a dinner Dec. 23 in celebration of their 48th wedding anniversary. Amissville Ruritan Club elected Farrell Nicholas to serve the group as president for the 1973 year. The Panthers scored a season’s first by winning both the junior varsity and varsity contests Tuesday night against the Strasburg Rams.

Rappahannock County is now playing the last round of Beat the Clock in its continuing effort to find a semi-permanent solution to its trash crisis, and the game remains a cliff hanger. When Sarah Schultz gave Jackson Kemper and other former slaves land more than a century ago, she unknowingly set off a series of events that now presents Rappahannock’s supervisors with a mini-dilemma posing legal and ethical questions. Marine Lance Cpl. Kenneth W. Cooper, son of Truman H. and Helen M. Cooper of Route 2, Amissville, recently participated in Exercise Spanish Phiblex February ‘87 while serving with 22nd Marine Amphibious Unit, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
