An attempted burglary and a burglary occurred in the early morning hours Tuesday.
Rappahannock Sheriff Gary Settle said an attempt was made around 1 to 1:30 a m. to break into Mayhugh’s Store in Amissville. The alarm went off and the sheriff’s office responded. Later, somewhere between 2:30 to 4:30 a.m. Settle’s Garage in Flint Hill was broken into. Items were taken — beer, cigarettes, tobacco, food — the list had not been fully compiled at press time.
Settle said he doesn’t think the two incidents occurring on the same night, several hours apart are a coincidence and believes they may be connected. The sheriff’s office is seeking information about the incidents. Anyone who may have been in the area of Mayhugh’s or Settle’s Garage at the times mentioned above and who saw
