their own space. They rent a large room and lobby for William Carrigan. Kiger said just having their own place makes for a better program. Michael Soule, of Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services . Center, Bernie Price, a volunteer from Boston and many other people raised money to pay for the rent and utility bills in what turned out to be “amazing community support,” said Kiger.
“Ruth grew up here and knows the community. She was very gentle with everyone,” said Jeanne McNear, coordinator for the retired volunteers. We have had a number of good coordinators in the past, she said, and will start advertising for someone to fill the position soon.
Kiger attended Northern Virginia Community College in Manassas and worked for 15 years for the Central Intelligence Agency as a liaison officer. For a short time she sold real estate in Front Royal, but said she didn’t enjoy the work. “Working for the seniors was one of the most wonderful things I have done,” said Kiger. She plans on continuing to help with the
