The sheriff’s office was notified of a hunting accident which occurred off Route 729 in Castleton on Jan. 3 at about 11:11 a.m. James Conrad, 49, of Woodbndge was hunting on private land with a partner. A bullet from the partner’s gun ricocheted off a tree and grazed Conrad in the abdomen. He was taken to Fauquier Hospital, treated and released.
A simple assault was reported near Washington on Dec. 29, 1997. Matthew Grigsby, 20, was charged with assault on a juvenile. Grigsby alleged that the juvenile had items belonging to him and trieckto get them back. In so doing he struck the juvenile who left and reported the incident to his parents. A warrant was issued, served and Grigsby was released on personal recognizance.
