If the post office were to approach us, the zoning will accommodate it. We would have to receive a site plan for whatever new building was proposed. Epstein would love to attract the post office there, because it would be a drawing point for other businesses.” <
Frazier confirmed that he had talked to Epstein himself .about the development. “Everybody’s talking regionalization, no matter where you go. Epstein is a businessman and (his development) needs an anchor. He will pursue it with , all diligence. There have been nibbles from Rappahannock County, but they have been too high (for the Postal Service) to work with. They can’t compete with Epstein’s offer of free land. I approached the Amissville Fire Department. They own their land free and clear and it could be a money maker for them to pay for their capital expenses, but the leadership has not moved.”
Several county land owners interested in acquiring the post office contacted Frazier. He said that he would like to be of assistance, but there are legal constraints involved that restrict spot zoning in the county.
