Presentation workshop planned
There will be a 4-H Presentation Workshop presented by Mrs. Joan Proctor after school on Thursday, Jan. 15 at the Rappahannock Extension Office. 4-H’ers will learn from this very motivational and entertaining instructor how to give a presentation or demonstration for competition in the 4-H program. Giving presentations or demonstrations helps young people with public speaking and gives them the self esteem to express their knowledge about a particular subject in a constructive and teaching manner. Call the office at 675-3619 the day before the workshop if you plan to attend. If you are a person with a disability and desire any assistive devices* services or other accommodations to participate in any of these activities, call 675-3619 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, two weeks prior to the event.
New support group to meet
A new breast cancer support group will have its first meeting Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at Warren Memorial Hospital. The support group will meet the fourth Thursday of each month in the Women’s Care Center Conference Room. For more information, call the Hospital’s Education Department at 636-0314.
Camp for Cloverbuds scheduled
Youth ages five to eight can learn how to safely protect their families and themselves at the District 4-H Cloverbud Camp: “It’s a Safe World after All,” March 1415, 1998.
Classes will include fire and safety precautions; simple first aid and emergency know-how; and D.A.R.E. program materials. Special events will highlight the weekend including a field .trip to the National Zoological Park’s Conservation and Research Center.

Adult and teen volunteers are being recruited. Applications are available from your local Extension Office now, and need to be completed and received by the Northern Virginia 4-H Education Center by Feb. 6. All volunteers will be required to attend a training on Friday, March 13, from 7 to 10 p.m. There is no cost for volunteers.
