Yesterday’s election marked the first time Virginia has held a primary, so even many political junkies were unsure if turnout would be high.
Some voters expressed satisfaction that Virginia, often considered unimportant in presidential politics, has been the focus of national attention in the closely watched Bush — McCain race.
Throughout the day, voters were unsure of how the race would turn out, and few people were willing to wager a guess on who would win the state primary. But several McCain supporters said that even if their man doesn’t take Virginia, he won’t be out of the race anytime soon.
