He is also survived by three nephews, Wayne Carder and his wife, Christine of Brightwood, Larry Dinkel of Lynchburg and David Dinkel and his wife, Ivy of Manassas.
Additional survivors include one great niece, Ginger Carder and one great nephew, Edward Carder.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jenkins Smith and one sister, Beatrice Coughlin.
Graveside services were conducted on Monday, Feb. 28 in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Bob Rooper officiating.

Flint Hill resident
Brenda Lea Moore, a local resident of Flint Hill, died Feb. 19 at the age of 52, at Fairfax Hospital.
She was bom in Portsmouth and graduated from Mary Washington College.
Ms. Moore and her husband Joe Moore, now deceased, moved to Flint Hill in 1984. She was an avid horseback rider and was active in Endurance Rides with her horse “Onion.”
She also owned and operated a local Tack Shop, called “Snaps” for several years.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Warwick; her parents, Jacquie Shonk of McLean and Captain William Shonk, USN Ret. of Alexandria and sisters, Deidre Cork of Haymarket and
