The Varsity Boys Basketball team hosted George Mason last Tuesday, in the first round of the Bull Run Districts playoffs. The Panthers started off really slow, falling behind 12-4 after one.
Rapp picked up the pace in the second quarter, to take the lead at the half 20-18. Ervin Phillips and Daniel Settle hit several big shots in the third to hold on to the lead. Rapp poured it on in the fourth quarter, to take the lead for good. The Panthers won the game 61-48.
Ervin led the team in scoring with 27 points, Daniel and Michael Settle contributed with 15 and ten respectively. Alex Baumgardner pulled down ten rebounds and Michael added nine boards.
The Panthers had to travel to Madison County High on Thursday night to face the number one team in the district, the Strasburg Rams.
The Panthers played well in the first quarter, keeping pace with the Rams, 22-19. Alex Baumgardner came off the bench to help Rapp in the rebounding department and also in scoring.
The Panthers continued to keep the game close after three quarters, 50-46. Ervin Phillips scored several times in the fourth, but the team came up short with Strasburg taking home the victory 60-57.
