Predeceased by his wife; his parents; a brother; a half sister; three half brothers and a grandson; he is survived by two daughters, Ann (Mrs. Richard) Markham of Sperryville and Mary Jean Gordon of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Mazzie L. Turner.

Interment was at Arlington National Cemetery on Feb. 29, graveside with full military honors.

Elsie Elam

Hume resident

Elsie Lucille Elam, 90, of Hume died Monday at her daughter’s home in Catlett.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Feb. 25 at Hume Baptist Church by the Rev. Larry Kennedy. Burial was in Leeds Cemetery in Markham.

Mrs. Elam was born April 8,1909 in Rappahannock County, daughter of the late Ernest and Bertie Campbell.

She was a homemaker and a member of Hume Baptist Church where she had participated in the Women’s Circle of the church. She was the wife of the late George Linwood Elam.

Surviving are five daughters, Thelma Williams of Orlean, Mary O’Bannon of Marshall, Betty Monis of Columbia, Md., Elsie Martin of Front Royal and Doris Elam of Catlett; a son, George Elam Jr. of Front Royal; 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bernie Lee O’Bannon, Gary Lynn Poe, Bruce Williams, Tom Reese, Russell Martin and Walter T. Elam.

Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton was in charge of the arrangements.

Lisa Ann Day, 34, of Culpeper died Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Charlottesville.
