Monday, March 20,2000 at 7:30 pm I, Walter Longyear, Chairman of the Rappahannock County Republican Committee, issue this Call for a Mass Meeting to be held on Monday, March 20,2000, at the Rappahannock County Courthouse. Registration will begin at 7:15 p.m. with the Mass Meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. f During the Mass Meeting we will: 1. Elect a County Committee Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Precinct Chairmen and Committee members. All persons seeking election to any of these posts or wishing to be elected as a delegate or alternate to the State or Congressional District Conventions must prefile be sending a statement in writing to that effect to the Chairman at 636 Mt Salem Ave., PO Box 124, Washington, VA 22747-0124 no later than March 19,2000. 2. Elect up to 55 Delegates and 55 Alternates (with a voting strength of eleven) to the State Convention which will be held on June 2-3,2000 at the Wginia Beach Pavilion Convention Center, Virginia Beach, VA. 3. Elect up to 55 Delegates and 55 Alternates (with a voting strength of eleven) to the 10th Congressional District Republican Convention to be held at 10:00 am on May 20,2000 at Handley High School in Winchester, VA. The purpose of this meeting is a. Elect a Chairman of the 10th Congressional District Republican Committee for a 2-year term; b. Elect three (3) delegates and three (3) alternates to the Republican National Convention to be held starting on Monday, July 31,2000 in Philadelphia, PA; c. Nominate one (1) elector to be voted for in die presidential election on November 7,2000; and d. To transact such other business as may properly come before the convention. All persons seeking election as a delegate or alternate to the State or Congressional District Conventions are requested to pay a voluntary registration fee ($25 for the State Convention; $15 for the District Convention) payable to Rappahannock County GOP no later than the evening of the Mass Meeting. Payments are non-refundabie and are not tax-deductible. All legal and qualified voters in Rappahannock County, Virginia regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election may participate as members of the Republican Party in this Mass Meeting.
