In a lead photograph, High winds Saturday night brought down a tree in Sperryville, which landed on Harry Trescott’s house on Main Street. On Monday morning, Tom Taylor’s construction crew removed the tree before repairing the house. The winds, which gusted to more than 40 miles per hour, brought down trees and caused minor damage to homes throughout the county. No injuries were reported as a result of the windstorm.
As required by the state Democratic Party plan, the county’s Democratic committee has been busy recently in carrying out the biennial reorganization of the local committee and electing new officers for the coming two-year term, according to a , committee spokesman. Elected to chair the county committee was attorney Douglas Baumgardner, who practices in Washington and resides with his family on Ginger Hill, overlooking the Tbwn of Washington. Kent Reeve of Sperryville was elected vicechairman, succeeding Dorothy Davis, and Ed Bailey of Washington was re-elected as the committee’s treasurer. Margaret White of Sperryville was re-elected to the post of secretary.
