Engineering Technician VI #07006

Location and Design Section Designs drainage systems for proposed rural and urban road construction projects by independently computing drop inlets and storm sewer systems and stormwater management facilities. Determines and designs appropriate erosion and sedimentation control measures in accordance with state law. Uses computers, electronic and hydraulic calculators, aerial photographs, topographical maps, drainage manuals, and road and bridge standards in the design of drainage systems. Conducts on-site visits to ensure conformity with plans and represents the Department at project showings and preconstruction meetings. May also compute quantities for special designs and standard items that are included in proposed and final construction cost estimates. Candidates must have considerable knowledge of state erosion and sedimentation control law. Must have knowledge and skill in CADD and drafting methods and plan preparation procedures. Demonstrated ability to apply engineering design principles by developing plans for routine and complex prop ects. Must be skilled in performing complex mathematical calculations including trigonometry. Candidate should possess good communication and customer service skills. Coursework in math, mechanical drawing, and civil engineering desirable. Certification in Erosion and Sediment Control Program Administrator, Inspector or Plan Reviewer is preferred. Salary: $30, 929 - $48,287.

NOTE: if there are insufficient number of qualified applicants for the Engineering Technician VI, it may be filled as Engineering Technician IV. The Engineering Technician position will have comparable duties and qualifications as stated above. Salary: $25,88 - $40,406.

CULPEPER DISTRICT OFFICE

Manage the financial and accounting operations for the Culpeper District, ensuring compliance to all Federal, State, and Department regulations. Selected person will be authorized to approve or reject financial transactions regarding accounts receivable and payable, employee payroll and petty cash. Directly responsible for supervision, guidance, training, and performance evaluations of an accounting staff. Develop and implement training programs for Districtwide fiscal related activities, policies and procedures, and computer programs. Monitor, interpret and prepare reports on variety of accounting and financial transactions. Communicate accounting and financial policies across all levels both within the agency and with external customers.

Must possess knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS); internal controls, accounting systems; general subsidiary ledgers, payables, receivable, and payroll cost accounting and systems. Skilled in the use of computers; Microsoft Office programs; accounting and payroll computer systems. Ability to supervise, guide and train employees; work independently; communicate effectively orally and in writing; provide quality customer service to employees apd the public. Degree in accounting preferred and/or training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation a plus. Selected candidate subject to a criminal background check. Salary: $41,600-$63,440.
