About Cub Scouts
Cub Scouting is a year round, family oriented program for boys in the first through fifth grades. Officially, the purposes of Cub Scouting are as follows: (1) To influence the development of character; (2) Develop good citizenship; (3) Encourage good sportsmanship; (4) Strengthen the ability to get along with others; (5) Develop new interests and skills; (6) Show how to be helpful and do one's best; and (7) Provide fun and exciting new things to do.
Unofficially, the purpose is to have alot of good, old fashioned fun! Cub Scouting is for boys of all backgrounds and is adaptable to boys with physical, mental or emotional limitations. Cub Scouting provides an adventure to everyone involved through skits, games, field trips, service projects, outdoor activities and more.
Further, all of this is done while earning various badges and pins. Basically, the Cub Scout framework provides structure and creates a sense of belonging for its participants.
The Cub Scout "Pack" is the basic unit of Cub Scouting. The Pack is in all cases chartered by an organization with interests similar to the Cub Scouts, such as a church, school or community organization.
